We spoke with four past and present Evolving Web trainees to hear about their first-hand experiences with our Drupal training program. They share some valuable tips to help your team members get started.

As you may know, Drupal 8 is reaching end-of-life this year, and Drupal 7 will follow suit by November 2022. For this reason, Evolving Web and Pantheon will join forces for a free technical training session called Best Practices for Higher Ed Drupal Migrations on September 2.

A few weeks ago, we launched our Scholarship program to give organizations in need due to the COVID-19 crisis access to free training. Our goal is to help scholarship recipients build a solid technical foundation and the skills they need to build a solid future. So far, we've had a tremendous response and have been able to give away dozens of scholarships to our upcoming courses.

In the same way a ramp on the sidewalk makes sure someone in a wheelchair can get over the curb, having an alternative (alt) text on an image can make sure someone using a screen-reader can understand what the image conveys.

Having trained thousands of people how to use Drupal since 2011, I've learned a lot about what makes students tick. Most of our classes have been in-person, since it's easier to teach effectively when I can instill enthusiasm by jumping up to the whiteboard, or rush over to help someone who's stuck. In wake of COVID-19 and the rapid transition to online learning, I'm reflecting how to make virtual training as engaging as it can be. I'd like to share four key factors for effective learning that go deeper than which video-conference or chat platform to use.

We're excited to launch our new Bootstrap 4 course this March in Montreal! Bootstrap is a popular front-end framework that provides a base of CSS and JS for your website's look and feel. It makes it easy to create responsive layouts and grids. It also has components you can use to build out responsive navigation, forms, modals, tool tips, buttons, and other common website elements. It's often used as a starting point for Drupal and WordPress themes.

If you want to get into Drupal development and don't have the pre-requisite knowledge, this is the course for you! It covers the fundamentals of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. We've had many students over the years who wanted to take our Drupal theming and module development courses, but didn't have a programming background because they require basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, programming.
